Worship At Abingdon
Our Services
Worship is the act of assigning worth to something. We believe God first assigned worth to humanity by creating and loving us. We gather regularly to return worship to God. Our worship generally takes the form of Eucharist, a Greek word meaning “thanksgiving”.
New To Abingdon
Going to any church for the first time may feel a little strange. We want you to be able to relax, to feel welcome and able to participate as you choose. Here is a guide to some of what you might expect if you join us for a worship service at Abingdon. We hope you will feel comfortable enough to worship with us.
Worship Participation
Abingdon offers many opportunities to participate in worship services for adults, youth, and children. Bake bread, carry the cross, sing, or read the liturgy.
If you are interested in any of these--or other--ministries, call the church office for more information.
Sacraments
Sacraments are outward and visible signs of God’s love and grace. The two great Sacraments of the Church are the Holy Eucharist and Holy Baptism, which were given to the Church by Christ himself. The other sacramental rites which evolved in the Church over a period of time include confirmation, holy matrimony, reconciliation, and unction
Special Services
Abingdon offers a variety of special services including baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
Music
Music is an important part of the life of Abingdon with enthusiastic volunteer choir members and a beautiful, acoustically exceptional space in which to worship.
