Babies, Toddlers, and Pre-School
Abingdon offers a variety of ways for our youngest members to be involved. Here you will find a list of services and activities for Pre-K children.
Nursery
The Nursery is closed during the summer. Please join us in the fall.
9:15am-12:00pm, August through June
9:30am-11:00am, July
A nursery for infants, toddlers and preschoolers is available during Sunday School (9:30-10:30 am). We read from stories, play together, and have a small snack. Care continues during the 10:30am worship service. Children may stay in the nursery throughout the service or join their parents for communion.
Children's Chapel
10:30am-11:00am, September – May
Children's Chapel is a worship service designed especially for little ones, from age 2 through 2nd grade.
At 10:25, children gather in the Nursery on the first floor of the Parish House.
At 10:30, they process to the “chapel” room down the hall while singing "Jesus Loves Me". The simple, liturgical service includes prayers, songs, a child-friendly message and Bible story based on the day’s lectionary reading.
The children come to the church to join their parents for communion.
Pageants
Children and youth are an integral part of worship here at Abingdon. Children and youth present programs during worship for the benefit of the entire congregation.
Worship events have included plays, skits, pageants, and the stations of the cross. We’ve also performed readings at our Easter vigil.
Family Fellowship
Some events are just for fun and to grow in relationship with each other. Events have included Trunk or Treat, spaghetti dinners, ice skating, and movie outings.
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt takes place after the 10:30 service on Easter Day.
The 4th of July picnic (see picture) takes place on the Sunday before the holiday
